This Anglican church was built by criminals from Dhaka Prison in 1819. It was inaugurated by the Bishop of Calcutta in 1824, visiting the region. Its Gothic style, surmounted by a tower, is typical of the churches of this part of Asia. A cathedral since 1951, it brings together Presbyterian and Anglican communities that merged in 1970 to form the Church of Bangladesh. His community would comprise about 15 000 members.
