GOALDI MOSQUE
This mosque dating back to 1519 is most often ignored by tourists. However, it is one of the few vestiges of Sonargaon at the pre-Mughal era and will offer you a beautiful leisurely walk. It was Dating by Mullah Hizabar Kkbar Khan and perfectly reflects Bengali style. In square shape, with openings on all sides except the wall headed towards Mecca, it has a dome and towers to each of its corners. Inside, the prayer room forms a cube with every edge measuring 7,57 m. The thick walls of 2 m guarantee a certain freshness, even at the height of the summer. The main entrance consists of three open arches surmounted by a eardrum adorned with sculpted lotus. These are reminiscent of the lotus held by the Hindu god Surya.
