RAJBARI OF PUTHIA
In the centre of the village, connected to the lake of Shyam, the impressive rajbari of the Rani Kumari is located at the end of a huge lawn. Completed in 1895, strong European influence reflects on all elements of the building. Each portal is based on a four-ply game that draws directly into the palladian style. The flat roof with a balcony is typical of the French colonial style in India. The first floor balcony is equipped with a fou in finely carved wood, while des have been placed at the top of the columns to filter light and protect from the strong rays of the sun. The building has long served as a university institution since Bangladesh's independence. But without maintenance of the structure, it is now left to the state of abandonment. Many of his statues and various elements were stolen during the turbulent decades of the country's history, from partition with India in 1947 and the departure of the royal family.
