PALACE OF MUHAMMAD ALI
The access to this ancient town of Bogra is done by the portico located at the end of the street, which goes from Shathmatha to the River Karatoya. The park has been set up in a playground for children, with carousels and swings that have made their time. The residence, relatively modest compared to some rajbaris, was a former kuthi, a factory of indigo. The Nawabs de the bought to make it a secondary residence. It has now been transformed into a museum and presents the furniture and objects that belonged to the family, including a fun collection of garments worn by mannequins retraçant the old fashion in Bengal under the colonial period.
Bogra's nawabs have always played a predominant role in the political life of the region. The most famous of them is Muhammad Ali Bogra, who was the health Minister of Bengal under Raj's Empire, and then Pakistan's Prime Minister in 1953. Forced to resign in 1954, he left as ambassador to the United States and then to Japan, returning to the Pakistani Government in 1962 as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
