SANGU RIVER
Walking along the banks of the Sangu can prove to be a pleasant and soothing spectacle. At Bandarban, go to the bridge that crosses the river towards the Golden Temple and get off on the bank. You will be able to observe at leisure women washing their linen and drying it, children play, men fish… It is also possible to take a cruise on the river and admire the magnificent scenery while crossing tribal villages only accessible by boat. You will need to take a bus to Khokhongjiri (2 hours drive). From here you will have to descend to the river through the village and catch a local wooden ferry, which the premises call "service boat". The descent to Bandarban lasts 3 hours. If the ferry has already left, you will have to negotiate a private boat. Take at least 3 000 Tk, because the boatmasters is likely to return to empty… The river is not always pratiquable, especially in the dry season. Ask the Hillside Resort guides before you engage in adventure, and know who if you wish, they can accompany you.
