San Pedro is home to one of the country's finest carnivals, but be sure to book your accommodation well in advance!
San Pedro is one of the last places in the country to celebrate Carnival. Numerous dance and music groups enliven the town for several days. Men take part in the celebrations, dressing as women and dancing to the sound of drums and other instruments. On the last day of the festival, children take part in the festivities, following an ancient tradition of spraying passers-by with paint. If you wish to attend these festivities, remember to book in advance, as all the island's venues are usually fully booked.
