The Cayo Corn Festival is a staple of Mayan and Mestizo cuisine in Belize. Foods created with this simple grain are enjoyed throughout the country. Foods such as salbutes, pandaes, tamalitos and atoles are tasty delights found in abundance in the town of San Ignacio. The towns of San Ignacio and Santa Elena are hosting the first Cayo Corn Festival on August 11, 2018. It takes place in the heart of the twin towns, an ideal place to discover Belize's Mayan and Mestizo heritage.
