BLANCANEAUX LODGE
Hotel in a natural setting in the heart of the jungle, with around 20 rooms, natural pools and a restaurant.
Francis Ford Coppola fell in love with Belize in the 1980s when he visited this reserve. The Mountain Pine Ridge Forest immediately reminded him of the landscapes used in the film Apocalypse Now, so he decided to buy land here. After becoming his family's haven for Crusoe-style vacations for a decade, he decided to open the property to the public by converting it into a hotel in 1993. With the help of his interior designer wife and Mexican architect Manolo Mestre, he turned it into a nugget in the heart of the jungle.
