EMBROIDERY VILLAGE
Brod is a typical mountain village with Ottoman style houses and stone houses in its architecture. It is one of the most remote villages. The living conditions are quite rustic. And in the streets of this village of about 400 people, it is more common to meet horses or cows than cars. The inhabitants, mostly from the Goran community, mainly practice livestock farming and mountain agriculture. In particular, they produce the famous Šar cheese. Cut off from the rest of the world during the winter months, the population then lives in almost self-sufficient, canned food made during the summer. And it is not uncommon in summer to see dung loaves drying on the side of the paths that will be used for heating from the first cold. The region is rich in medicinal plants and blueberries. Their collection in July and August, in significant quantities (around a hundred tons per year) contributes to the economy of these remote villages.
