Mountain hut offering an interesting independent apartment and a dormitory with 10 bunk beds.
Located 1h15 walk from Erto and 15 minutes by car, this mountain hut offers an interesting independent apartment for 5 people and a small dormitory with 10 bunk beds. One comes here for the setting in the middle of the mountains and yet so close to the village. The backdrop to the stone chalet is a huge rock cliff. But you can come for lunch or dinner from a successful Friulian kitchen on waxed red and white tile canvases. Here one orders mainly mixed boards of cold meats and cheese with wine.

Ho parcheggiato nelle vicinanze del rifugio con l'intenzione di percorrere il sentiero che porta al rifugio Maniago più in alto. Dopo circa due ore le gambe non mi hanno più retto e sono tornato all'auto. La Casera Mela è ha circa 3 km da Erto ha intorno dei prati verdissimi e tavoli all'esterno. Consiglio di fare una visita solo il panorama ne vale la pena. Si può abbinare questa escursione ad una visita alla diga del Vajont luogo funesto teatro di quella immane tragedia.

Il rifugio è raggiungibile in macchina, la posizione molto bella. Ci sono stata un giorno a pranzo con degli amici, devo dire che il servizio non è dei migliori, non troppo gentili anche se il cibo in compenso è buono. Non so se dipendesse dal fatto che erano molto pieni, ma a parte le lunghe attese, la signora che ci ha servito non è stata troppo cordiale. Il prezzo non basso, ma ok, considerando che siamo in un rifugio in montagna.
