FARO DI PUNTA POLVERAIA
Lighthouse inaugurated by the Royal Navy of Italy, managed by the Italian Navy and by the National Park of the Tuscan Archipelago.
At the western end of the island of Elba, standing on a promontory near Patresi, the Punta Polveraia lighthouse was inaugurated by the Royal Italian Navy (the Regia Marina) in 1909. This active, fully automated lighthouse is now managed by the Marina Militare (the Italian Navy) and by the National Park of the Tuscan Archipelago. It forms a white octagonal tower 10 metres high, a landmark set high above the sea. Accessible by a steep path, the small beach of della Guardia, made up of pebbles and rocks, is generally not very busy.
