For boat lovers, the Bata Canal is the ideal place for a weekend or a holiday. Suitable for water sports tourism, bicycle tours and active holidays, this canal was built in the 1930s. The Bata shoe company owned a lignite mine in Ratiškovce and the waterway was used for fuel transport until 1960. It was restored in the 1990s for tourism purposes.
