RIPOLL ETHNOGRAPHIC MUSEUM
Ethnographic museum with many explanations about the intangible heritage of the Catalan hinterland.
Towards the end of the th century, the bourgeois class of the region became aware of the fragility of traditional and popular heritage in the face of rising industrialization. A systematic collection is then undertaken to preserve a trace of the ancient crafts, crafts, customs and legends, songs and dances, beliefs and superstitions of the Ripollès. Since 1929, this collection has been granted a privileged place in the church of Sant Pere, and for more than 70 years it is growing. After 10 years of restoration, the ethnographic museum in Ripoll opened in 2011. The exhibits include furniture, costumes, weapons, liturgical objects and ceramics, as well as many explanations relating to the intangible heritage of the Catalan hinterland. A visit to three levels highly instructive!
