SANT PERE MONASTERY
Monastery built around a church of the Xth century, with a single nave covered with a barrel vault slightly pointed
Built around a 10th century church, it was founded under Wilfred II, Count of Besalù. Its sobriety suggests that it is the work of a Cistercian monastic community: five rectangular apses, only one of which can be seen from the outside, and a single nave covered with a slightly pointed barrel vault. In the 17th century it fell into such a state of disrepair that the eight monks and the abbot who lived there were forced to move to independent houses. In the 20th century, part of the monastery was destroyed and the church was restored.
