SANCTUARY OF OUR LADY OF EASTERN ALBANIA
Romanesque sanctuary in Argandoña, which houses an interpretation center with a route of Romanesque art in Álava
This Romanesque sanctuary, built on the foundations of an 11th-century temple, is one of the best examples of medieval architecture in the Basque Country. An important stop on the Way of St. James, it houses a 12th-century representation of the Virgin of Estíbaliz, patron saint of Alava. Also noteworthy is the elegance of its portal with fine vegetal decorations. Next door, the Interpretation Centre, with its four rooms, offers a tour of Romanesque art in Álava.
