TOWER CLOCK
Time-indicating tower, used by Punta Gorda residents and travellers as a landmark or rendezvous point
Punta Gorda's clock tower is the city's best-known landmark. Built in 2000, it has already withstood three major hurricanes, in 2004 (Charley), 2017 (Irma) and 2022 (Ian). The dial measures 1m30 in diameter, and the brown numerals can be seen from a distance against the white background. The tower tells the time and is adorned with paintings of the surrounding countryside and covered in bright blue colors that embellish Main Street. Many Punta Gorda residents and travelers use this tower as a landmark or meeting point.
