BASILICA AND MUSEUM OF SANTA MARIA DE CASTELLÓ
Visit this parish museum and admire a collection of silverware, liturgical ornaments, architectural pieces
Emblematic of the city, this beautiful cathedral-like church is one of Catalonia's most interesting examples of Gothic religious architecture. Work began in the 13th century and was completed in the early 14th century with the construction of the façade, which features a magnificent marble portal. The church's Romanesque bell tower is of Lombard influence, but with Gothic decoration, probably dating from the 13th century. The interior is in the same Gothic style, with a number of unusual Romanesque fonts, a remarkable 15th-century alabaster altarpiece and two comtal sarcophagi. Known as the "treasure trove", the parish museum houses a collection of goldsmith's and silversmith's objects, liturgical ornaments and architectural pieces from various periods.

elle se situe dans la partie de la ville ancienne aux ruelles étroites
la basilique est d'une architecture simple mais très belle belle avec de magnifiques sculptures sur le portail d'entrée et son parvis tout en galets en oblique
