BEACHES AND COVES
Large beach accessible to people with reduced mobility and punctuated by children's parks and rest areas for all
The municipality has just over 15 kilometres of coastline, divided into just over 5 kilometres of beaches and the rest into rocky coastlines, located in the north of the municipality. The closest beach to the port is the large beach. Along the Passeig Marítim, it is accessible to people with reduced mobility and is punctuated by children's parks and rest areas for all. The next beach is Les Griells beach, which runs alongside the natural Ter Vell river, which is less busy than the previous one, followed by La Pletera beach, part of which is accessible for windsurfing, and the Mas Pinell beach, which extends it and adjoins the Pals beach. The latter, of course, has no construction. Hiking enthusiasts can reach Cala de Calella, in the north of the municipality, by first following the local path that follows the paseo maritime to the headland of El Molinet, and then taking the Cap de la Barra street (carrer). It is about 2 kilometres long and is classified as being of medium difficulty, but the first part of it to Le Molinet is particularly easy and can be used as a digestive walk. The bravest will reach Cala Montgó, the largest cove on the Montgrí coast, some 12 kilometres away, on the other side of the Nature Park, but after a good effort of at least three hours, following the local path and then the GR-92. This cove was used as a landing place in Roman times, as evidenced by the remains that have been found there. It can also be reached by bike, car and even by boat .
