CHURCH SANT ESTEVE DE GUILS
A church with a single nave covered with multiple vaults ending with the typical Romanesque semi-circular apse
Rather remarkable monument than the church of Guils, dedicated to Sant Esteve, in the middle of the village. Romane, mentioned for the first time in the th century, is displaying beautiful proportions. It has a unique nave covered by multiple vaults ending by the typical semicircular apse of the novel and a wall wall. The most beautiful element remains the southern portal, certainly the most interesting and better preserved of Cerdanya: the door is framed by two rows of three columns surmounted by zoomorphes-based capitals, the latter supporting a archivolte with a series of four voussures, all dominated by a checkerboard in a checkerboard.
