Aguja monastery, also known as Uja, was founded in 859 by Benedictine monks from Santa Maria d'Arles fleeing the Normands invasion. That is at least the most common theory. Built according to the architectural canons of Girona Cathedral, the monastery of the monastery was enlarged to the west in the th century.
