Colltort Castle was first mentioned in 1017 and was probably the place of residence for the region's first feudal lord. In the old documents, the building is often cited as the castle of Finestres, located on the same crest as that of Colltort, probably due to their geographical proximity. These two castles had an important role in relations with the counties of Barcelona and Besalú.
