If the present church dates back to the th century, it was built on the ruins of a Romanesque church dating from the th century. It seems that the word Encies (gum) derives from the Latin word incis, meaning cutting, division or inductive: it was once a source, considered miraculous, springing from a fault under the primitive church. The church of the relics of the saints Cosme, Firm, Eugènia and Hipòlit took place in the 1655 th century, but during the looting of French troops in, during the thirty years war they disappeared.
