SMOLARI WATERFALL (ВОДОПАД СМОЛАРСКИ)
At the borders of the Républque of Macedonia, 10 km from the Greek and Bulgarian borders, this is the country's highest waterfall. The small Lomnitsa mountain river is a 39,5 m drop in the middle of a beautiful natural site. Smolari Vodopad ("La waterfall") is at 630 m above sea level. In Smolari, at the level of the first road on the right from Strumica, a carved wood sign indicates "Vodopad". Follow this path to the last houses of the village. The rest of the journey is on foot (1 km), through a beautiful beech forest and chestnut forest. Once crossed, on a makeshift bridge, a wide but shallow creek, we are led by a forest road to a 400 m built staircase, which leads to a wooden footbridge from which one can admire the waterfall. The show is superb! On site, not really a restaurant but a few drinks sellers. The place is very popular with people in the country who usually come with their picnic.
