MISCOU ISLAND LIGHTHOUSE
Octagonal-shaped lighthouse still in use, offering the possibility of a visit to admire the grandiose view of the sea.
A picture postcard image, with the scarlet peat bogs in the foreground and the Miscou Island lighthouse towering over the waterfront. Built in 1856 on the shores of Chaleur Bay, it was recognized as a National Historic Site in 1974 and a Federal Heritage Building in 1991. The original octagonal wooden tower, still in use today, is equipped with a third-order Fresnel lens. You can visit the tower and go to the very top to admire the breathtaking sea views and watch the seals (bring your binoculars).
