CRUISE ON THE ICE FJORD OF QOOROQ

Boat trip to the ice cap to discover icebergs stranded on the moraines.
The boat trip not to be missed, whatever the weather! Heading for the ice cap, you'll be stunned by the sheer number of icebergs stranded on the moraines, as you wind your way between a multitude of stranded bits of ice, here and there, of many shapes, textures and colors, including intense blue reflections for those who have just turned over... The engine is then switched off, a majestic silence settles in, only to be interrupted from time to time by the shattering sounds of icebergs breaking away from the glacier, toppling over or crashing into the icy water. A rare sight you won't soon forget. You'll learn that this immense glacier pours some 200,000 tonnes of ice into the fjord every day! During the trip, a guide collects ice cubes for (non-alcoholic) cocktails: as the thousand-year-old bubbles escape into the glass, they release tiny crackling sounds...!
This excursion generally lasts between 1h30 and 3h. It involves no particular difficulty. Don't forget to wear warm clothes, as the air is much cooler in the icy water, so it would be a shame not to take full advantage! This tour is offered during the summer season by the two local tour operators Blue Ice Explorer and Tasermiut for around 650 DKK (€90) per person. Refreshments and hot drinks available on site.
