The ACR is considered to be the most challenging cross-country ski race in the world. Starting from Sisimiut, north of the Arctic Circle, it lasts several days and extends for more than 160 km through wild and steep landscapes of incredible beauty. About a hundred skiers participate each year, the majority of them Greenlanders, but also foreigners from Scandinavian countries, the United States and Canada. Candidates spend two nights in tents where the night temperature can reach -30°C. The drop-out rate can reach 40%.
