UUMMANNAQ MUSEUM
Museum displaying copies of the clothes of the mummies found at Qilakitsoq in 1972 and Alfred Wegener's propeller sled.
The town's former hospital houses a small but interesting museum focusing on regional history. The museum displays copies of the clothing of the famous mummies found at Qilakitsoq in 1972 and the propeller sled of Alfred Wegener (famous for his theory of continental drift), which was used for the expedition across the ice sheet in 1930. There's also a fine collection of paleo-Eskimo archaeology and traditional crafts, including kayaks, umiaq, tents and hunting tools, as well as a small library.
