The country's largest national park, featuring Belize's highest mountain, Doyle's Delight, at 1,124 m above sea level
At 1,080 km², Chiquibul National Park is the country's largest national park. It includes the majestic site of Caracol. Its creation dates back to 1991, when it was decided to transform three quarters of the Chiquibul reserve, which contained no logging areas, into a national park in order to better preserve it. To the west of the park lies the border with neighbouring Guatemala. At its heart is Belize's highest mountain, Doyle's Delight, at 1,124 m above sea level.
