A 2 km walk along the seafront to discover the true urbanism of the Catalan bourgeoisie

This is the necessary visit to this stage. A walk about two kilometres by the sea, which will make you discover what resembles a real town manifest of the Catalan bourgeoisie at the beginning of the th century. Its history began in 1916 when Josep Ensesa i Pujadas, a minotier industrialist established in Girona, acquires a parcel at the foot of the hill in exchange for a debt from a Sant Feliu baker. And it is one of his descendants that will build the emblematic Senya Blanca in 1924. A work by Rafael Masó, an architect who will play a decisive role in many buildings and whose style will also be found in the pergolas houses of the square of Roserar, the house Sibilis (1929) or the house Gorina (1931). These same years will see the emergence of new constructions: The luxurious Hotel Monumental, the baths of St Pol and the Hostal La Gavina, making the place a meeting point between many artists, painters, letter men or theatre. In 1941, the architect Francesc Folguera, the Nostra of the Senya Blanca and the round road of S'Agaró, took the floor in. The last significant architect was Adolf Florensa to whom the ultimate enlargements of the Hostal La Gavina are attributed. It was in October 2001 that the latest developments in this path will be inaugurated, classified as a cultural interest: restoration of degraded elements, development of local vegetation, lighting, urban furniture and improved access to Sa Conca beach. Logically, this place served as a backdrop to many films such as Pandora, Albert Lewin (1950), Mr Arkadin, Orson Welles (1954) and Die for Living, by Alejandro Amenábar, in 2004. Today he is hosting an international music festival. Of course, this path stretches from the beach of Sant Pol to that of Sa Conca, taking advantage of the panorama between sea, coves and pines, but we recommend the guided tour, especially informative.
