Kamotsuru was the favourite drink of feudal lords, residing in Saijo during the Edo era (1604-1868). The brewery has been named «Kamotsuru» since 1873. His sake is made from excellent rice, such as Yamada Nishiki, Hattan Nishiki and Omachi. On the site is a kind of museum where visitors can study processes for making sake.
