MAISON DES MÉTIERS DU MONDE RURAL
Located in a former bakery acquired by the municipal association of Bazois, Maison des Métiers evokes the daily rural life of the beginning of the century by offering tools and exhibition of objects related to about twenty professions that have been forgotten. The collection contains more than 2000 tools and household objects, some of which come from Bazois. The Prehistoric Archaeology room is devoted to the department of Nièvre. Realized by the Prehistoric Group of Nivernais, it includes the most beautiful pieces discovered by its members over the past thirty years, through a modern chronological and educational presentation. Outside, is a setting rich in greenery where herbs and vegetables, surrounded by flowers and fruit trees are grown.
The ambition of Maison des Métiers is to work for the future by raising awareness of the past, and creating opportunities for local residents by helping them rediscover their history and culture.
