On the shores of Lake Laguna Grande, in the village of La Lagunilla, are the remains of the hacienda Media Luna. The latter is said to have inspired one of the passages in the cult work Pedro Paramo, by the writer Juan Rulfo, in which the protagonist returns to his native village after the death of his mother, and finds only a ghost town.
