Loes and Kees, a couple of Dutch biologists, arrived in Panama a dozen years ago after a long African experience. They bought a land of 8 hectares dedicated to cattle with the aim of reforesting them and that the fauna and flora regained control of the site. A beautiful botanical garden exists today! The B & B between Mariato and Torio, near the village of Malena, is simple, with 4 rooms for 1 or 2 people. The main interest of staying in Heliconia is to make an excursion with their agency Tanager Ecotours, in Coiba or at Cerro Hoya for example.
