ARTIGAS GARDENS
Garden in La Pobla de Lillet with a bridge flanked by arches, a stone arbour and fountains with animal shapes.
Eusebi Güell owned a large cement factory in La Pobla de Lillet, as well as the Catllaràs mines. In 1905, Gaudí was welcomed into his home by the industrialist Joan Artigas, who asked him to design a garden around his factory on the banks of the Llobregat River. Gaudí drew up the plans and handed them over to the industrialist, who set to work. The actual construction of the gardens lasted 7 long years, after the death of their patron. Joan Artigas's son took over the work and brought the project to completion.
