CASTELLO DUCALE - MUSEO ARCHEOLOGICO
Castle with a museum exhibiting objects from the excavations on the hill of Cimitero Vecchio
Built in the 13th century under Frederick II, the castle was refurbished in the Renaissance style in the 16th century. Today it houses an archaeological museum that traces the occupation of the territory in the protohistoric and archaic periods, based on objects discovered during excavations carried out on the Cimitero Vecchio hill. The excavations revealed the presence of an important Iron Age necropolis (late 9th-7th century B.C.), whose tombs contained rich furnishings.
