ROMAN TRIUMPHAL ARCH
Monument that is part of the archaeological complex of Tarragona, World Heritage of Unesco in Roda de Bera
The Arch of Berà is a triumphal arch (a single arch of 12.3 m supported by four Corinthian-style grooved pillars) located on the ancient Via Augusta. It was probably erected in 13 BC at the request of Lucius Licinus Sura, a military man from Barcino (now Barcelona) and friend of the emperor Trajan, in honor of the emperor Augustus, but also to put an end to the territorial conflicts between the Ilergetes and the Cessetani. The monument is part of the archaeological complex of Tarragona, Unesco World Heritage.
