SANT ESTEVE CHURCH
Church that went from the Romanesque style to a transitional style between the Gothic and the Renaissance in Vila-Seca
Built around the 12th century, the church of Sant Esteve has undergone a number of changes over time, the main transformation being the change from the original three medieval naves to a single nave towards the end of the 16th century, covering the interior of a temple that changed from a Romanesque style to a transitional style between the Gothic and Renaissance styles. Note that the rectangular bell tower, to which the clock was added in 1855, was originally a defense tower. Note also the numerous gargoyles, which channel rainwater.
