MONTMELL CASTLE
A castle that stands more than 780 meters high, mentioned in documents that date back to the year 1000 in El Montmell
Standing proudly at a height of more than 780 meters, on the rocky outcrop called the "Dent de Montmell", this castle is mentioned in archival documents that date it back to the year 1000 (1090 to be exact). Today it is in ruins, but the walk that leads to it as well as the panorama that its location offers on the Penedès are well worth an hour or two. It is worth noting that the chapel of the castle served as the very first parish church of Montmell, religiously attached to the cathedral of Barcelona.
