ALCOVER MUSEUM
Municipal Museum in a medieval tower of the Portal de Sant Miquel to house the collection of marine fossils from the Triassic period
Founded in 1967, this municipal museum, housed in a medieval tower in the Portal de Sant Miquel, was created to house the collection of marine fossils from the Triassic period, discovered by chance in the quarries around Alcover. The museum moved to the Ca Baptista house in 1975 and was expanded in the 1990s. There are two main exhibition areas: marine fossils and bourgeois life (objects and furniture from the last few centuries). In addition to these two areas, there is a space dedicated to the painter Anton Català, who was born in Alcover and died in Barcelona in 1970.
