THE HERMITAGE OF THE POND OF DEU DE L'ABELLERA
Hermitage under the vault of a cave that served as a refuge for pilgrims and shepherds, the first vicar apostolic of the Indies
This hermitage is located 2 km from the urban center of Prades, under the natural vault of a cave that for a long time served as a refuge for pilgrims and shepherds, including the first vicar apostolic of the West Indies, Fra Bernat Boïl (who accompanied Christopher Columbus to the Americas). Built in 1570 and flanked by a bell tower eight years later, the building has a single nave under which a picture of the Virgin Mary dating from 1940 is enthroned. Panoramic view of the mountains.
