Carried out in 1919 by César Martinell, architect of the Co-operative El Has de Pitch and disciple of the famous Gaudí, the monumental cooperative wine cellar of Gandesa is a major modernist work of the Terra Alta, christened «wine cathedral» for its singular architecture. As with the Pitch Has de Pitch co-op, it's its astonishing interior architecture, where to follow the satellite parabolic arches, which hit the eye. The arches support Catalan vaults built in flat bricks, an impressive set of technicality.
