Romanesque church of imposing dimensions, reflecting the importance of the medieval town of Varzy
This imposing 13th-century Romanesque church reflects the importance of the medieval town of Varzy. The three-arched portal rests on colonnettes and is topped by a large radiating bay window. A stained glass window in the church, depicting Saint James, will be of particular interest to pilgrims. The most beautiful piece in Varzy's treasury is the reliquary arm of Saint Eugenie, a sculpture in gold and olive wood representing a blessing hand.
