GREENSBORO SCIENCE CENTER
Greensboro Science Center is an entertainment and education centre for the whole family. A visit to the aquarium, zoo and museum is included in the admission fee. In addition, there are also special programs and access to the tree branch. More than just an exhibition space, the museum supports a program to protect endangered species, the SSP. Most of the visible animals are part of this program and belong to species considered threatened. Field research projects accessible to museum staff provide a better understanding of the different species and their natural environment. They can range from sea outings on the North Carolina coast to missions in Africa.
The aquarium. Among the must-see attractions are the huge aquarium populated by sharks, the pool where you can touch the rays and the part dedicated to penguins, which is particularly fun when they are fed (10:30 am and 3:30 pm). It is with great amusement that we observe them, we tease them, we refuse the fish we present to them under the pretext of not having the right size or texture. The penguins are then quickly understood by a non-lateral non-lateral of the head and reproduce the same process until they find shoes on their feet.
The museum. The part about the human body is very interesting and the youngest ones can spend hours in the incredible tropical beach-like play area. The dinosaur area is also one of the most popular attractions. Not to be missed is the projection where you can pretend to caress T-rex and other giant reptiles. Each part is extremely well thought out and very interactive with projections and different playful programs. A theatre also shows films that vary according to the programming.
The zoo. The exterior includes the tree line and the zoo, which is expected to double in size in 2020. You can observe, among others, lemurs, red pandas, several species of monkeys or even foxes.
On Saturdays from March to November, special tours are organized, the Zoo Treks. In small groups, visitors have the opportunity to discover 5 enclosures that vary according to the season. Among the most popular stops, a training session at the gibbons' and the distribution of the snack at the lemurs'.
The tree line, (requiring a separate ticket) offers a course of different levels that runs over the different enclosures of the zoo. It was designed to reproduce the movements of animals. We find in particular the flight of the butterfly or the jump of the frog.
