GREENSBORO HISTORICAL MUSEUM
Set in the former First Presbyterian Church of 1812, which was also a hospital during the war of Secession, the city museum presents its history through several galleries distributed on two levels. On the first floor, an exhibition is discovered on some important artisans in the history of the city, the reproduction of different furnished interiors of the 1st century and the museum's sales shop. A door at the bottom of this boutique gives access to the First Presbyterian Cemetery, which is also part of the visit. The 2nd floor proposes exploring several rooms in the city's special places in the last century, or even before: a classroom, a pharmacy, a cinema room (with the projection of films of a few minutes black and white of the 1900 s, signed for most Thomas A. Edison), the Clegg hotel lobby (famous in the 1890 s)… One of the rooms is reserved for the exhibition of a 1886 fire steam pump (The General Green). The adjacent wing of these rooms is reserved for temporary exhibitions and an exhibition on the weapons of the War of Secession. A pretty rich visit to better understand the past of Greensboro.
