BILL MONROE'S HOME PLACE

This house was born and grew up by Bill Monroe (1911-1996), the father of the bluegrass. In the 1940 s, it created this new genus from the country by introducing new sounds, including the use of mandolin, banjo and double bass. Bill Monroe was a Grand Ole Opry star for over 50 years. He was the only artist to have been inducted into three Halls of Fame (bluegrass, country, rock and roll). Visitors come from all over the world to gather on the premises and learn more about the life of the artist and his family. It is in the Cimetière cemetery at the bottom of the road that Bill, his parents and all his brothers and sisters are resting today. At the exit of Rosine, a small wooden hut stands at the place where Pen, the uncle's uncle, and Bill himself lived after his father died in 1928. Since 2000, the Jerusalem Ridge Bluegrass Festival is held every year in September on the site and brings together thousands of amateurs (no edition in 2016). Failing to attend this celebration, The Rosine Barn Jamboree of Rosine proposes every Friday night of bluegrass concerts, and Beaver Dam Amphitheater de Beaver offers seasonal programming.
