CORSO GARIBALDI
It is the very pleasant main artery of the historic centre, completely refurbished and now pedestrian. It links most of the main monuments of Certainly and is surrounded by beautiful palaces with pastel tones. At its eastern end, the Rocca dei Adrian is a palace with a fortress look - it was built on the model of the great papal constructions of Avignon - built in 1321 to welcome papal rectors. The corso then crosses the church of Santa Sofia, then via Traiano, at the end of which the arc of Trajan rises. Later, the new Egyptian obelisk of the th century. I.C., perched on a temple dedicated to Isis. A detour through the narrow streets leads to a set of medieval arches. The corso ends Piazza Duomo; The cathedral preserved its beautiful Romanesque façade flanked by its campanile, the th century ensemble. The rest of the building, destroyed by the allied bombing, was completely rebuilt. The crypt of the th century primitive church, decorated with frescoes of the th century, deserves a visit.
