Circular tower of 10.5 m in diameter transformed into a necropolis with a dozen tombs found during the excavations
The remains of this circular tower, 10.5 metres in diameter, stand above the plain of Caldes de Montbui, marking the boundary between the village of Sentmenat and Caldes de Montbui. Originally called Puig Castellar, it stands at the southern end of the remains of an Iberian village occupied between the 6th century BC and the 1st century BC. It was the reddish colour of the land in the area that gave it its name: the "red tower". At the beginning of the medieval period, the site was transformed into a necropolis. A dozen tombs were indeed found during excavations.
