SAFAREIG DE LA PORTALERA
Public washhouse with thermal water in the historical center of Caldes de Montbui
Amazing, but true, the women of the village still come to wash their clothes in this public washing place with thermal water! Located in the historic centre, its construction dates back to the 19th century. It is the water from the Lion's Spring that supplies the basin of the wash-house with hot water. It is then emptied, cleaned and refilled daily. Another washhouse built on a thermal spring, the safareig de la Canaleta, is located on Carrer General Padrós. It was built by the architect Manuel Raspall in 1929.
