FLUWEELENGROT (VELVET CAVE)
An impressive network of underground tunnels, actually located beneath the castle ruins. At Christmas, it hosts a market.
Located beneath the ruins of the château, this incredible cave was created to extract marl (sedimentary rock). This network of underground tunnels stretches over 5 kilometers. The Grotte de Velours has seen a variety of uses: it served as a chapel during the French Revolution, became a hiding place during the Second World War, before becoming a hospital for American soldiers after the liberation. At Christmas, it hosts a famous market.
