LOFTR VIKING MUSEUM
Borg, in Lofoten, was one of the largest Viking settlements in Northern Norway during the Viking era. Excavations began in 1981 and the impressive site was discovered. Today, the site has been reconstructed exactly as it was when it was first discovered, taking us on a journey back almost 1,000 years. The site is the largest Viking settlement farm ever discovered. The new Viking Museum is built around the 83-meter long excavation of the common house. It is ingenious, practical, impressive, and a perfect demonstration of political and economic structures. Exhibitions of objects found during the excavations, Viking boats of 23 and 30 m that embarked the volunteers, plays and meals, everything is done to immerse you in these heroic times, meeting the various craftsmen of the village who explain their work. The museum organizes many events every month of the year, you can see their rich program on their website. In particular the Viking festival organized every year in August. A great museum that promises to have a great time. Guided tours are given in several languages. A rather large souvenir store with t-shirts, books, small objects to bring back, nice postcards that you can't find everywhere. Free Internet connection in the whole establishment. To be done especially with the family, the children will love it!
